Words can't describe our experience at Macondo. My initial contact for reservations was with the owner "Charlie" . He was so helpful, answered all my questions in a timely manner. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by two very charming and sweet caretakers ...Louis and jenni....I felt like the red carpet was laid out for us. So accommodating, friendly and helpful. Always smiling!Debra G., Trip Advisor
We have just come back from Sayulita and our overall appreciation of our experience at Macondo is "it was great". Charles and Melanie are very helpful hosts, everything you need (food, restaurants, pharmacy, beach, bus stop) is walking distance (no need for a car), our apartment, the Terrace Bungalow, was spacious, well kept (thank you Lupita) and is certainly an excellent value for money in Sayulita. Every now and then we find these gems that we are happy to recommend on Trip Advisor for others to consider and eventually enjoy. This is one of them.Auplaisir, Trip Advisor
My husband and I stayed in the Rooftop Bungalow the last two weeks of February 2015. It was during Sayulita Days. It was a little noisy a couple of nights but it was 'good' noise. Families enjoying themselves, Mariachi Bands and Fireworks!! Can't beat that! The Macondo itself is a beautiful, well kept gem (for lack of a better word). Really unique accommodations, and equally unique owners. Charlie and Melanie are incredible! They associate themselves with wonderful people - from their housekeeper to the taxi driver "Margarito".Joan R., Trip Advisor
My fiancé was taking to some people on the beach and that people´s name was Melanie and Charlie and they have a place for us, cheap, beautiful, clean, and very close from everything, we stayed there longer than we thought just because we were feeling like home, they have the best option for u, either a small room, medium, or a penthouse and the prices are very low, we do recommend this place totally, thanks to Melanie and charlie for being the best host ever, we will be back soon. We've been coming to Sayulita for 7 years, and have stayed at Macondo for 6 of those years. One year, for a change of pace, we booked an expensive home high up in the hills in the north end, and we were so lonely up there, we couldn't wait to get back to Macondo. We've stayed in the Traveller's Palm. the Sunset, the Tuscan, the Terrace and the Rooftop. Terrace gets our vote for a snug, fully-equipped, very private bungalow, but we love the Rooftop for the spaciousness and outdoor living.Madtraveller11, Trip Advisor
We just returned from our second visit to Sayulita in two years, both times at Macondo. In short, I can't imagine a more amenable place to stay in Sayulita. Oh, there are more lavish and expensive places, as well as cheaper and more basic ones (believe me, we looked), but for us, Macondo hits all the right notes--charm, cleanliness, location, price, and best of all, the hosts. Charlie and Melanie are warm and thoughtful, and they provide lots of little touches that make us feel special and welcome.Hayseedy, Trip Advisor
I was there with my wife for several weeks. We were in three different rooms, all of them having some different sort of characteristics. Our favourite was so called Rooftop Garden Bungalow. It was just magnificent, really something we haven't seen before. Owners Charlie and Melanie were the most helpful and friendly people, making our time memorable. They were very flexible, helping us out in many things. If going to Sayulita, go and check this place.Kari V., Trip Advisor
The charm and comfort of the Macondo Bungalows are a reflection of the hosts, Melanie and Charly. You are welcomed into their homelike setting and one is met with both accommodating professionals and friends who WILL go beyond the job description and do what ever to make your stay golden, even if it is not in their bungalows. Rates are most reasonable, the architecture unique, the accommodations excellent with all which you may need at hand or else provided immediately.Christopher B., Trip Advisor
